Toshio Yodoi 

The museum permanently exhibits the works of the sculptor Toshio Yodoi, a pioneer of Japanese modern and contemporary arts, who was born in Asago.
He was professor at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He won prestigious awards as “the person of cultural merits” in 1994 and “the person of the order of the culture award” in 2001.
The museum is willing to collect lifeworks and information about the sculptor Toshio Yodoi.

A brief biography of Toshio Yodoi
1911     Born at Sanaka in Asago city
1933     Graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, sculpture course, wood carving department
1965     Became professor at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music1978     Became professor emeritus at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music
1982     Became member of the Japan Art Academy
1994     Received “the person of cultural merits” award
1998     Became chief director of Salon Nika
2001     received “the person of the order of the culture award”
2005     Passed away

At the entrance of the museum

We can see at the foreground a work of Toshio Yodoi called “Seagull”.

At the background, the huge rock-fill dam can be seen.

Imitating the famous art of Leonardo Da Vinci “The last Supper”, Toshio Yodai presents animals around a lunch.

The second seat from the left is empty for you to take part of the scenery.

The art village around the museum shows 33 works. In the background, we can see the hotel called “Minori Log-house”.
