Ritsuun-kyo Valley



The Ritsuun valley is situated at 757 meters of altitude and is well-known for its many thousands of Sakura trees.
In spring a numerous of 300 years old cherry trees are blooming and give us marvellous scenery.
That’s why this valley is also known as the “Yoshino of Tajima”. (Situated in Nara Prefecture, Yoshino is famous for its Cherry Blossom trees).
In addition to cherry trees, waterfalls and mountain steam can be seen.

Situated just in front of the Takeda Castle, it is said that lords of Takeda Castle had planted cherry trees to be able to see this scenery from the castle. Well, the existence of cherry trees goes back even before the building of Takeda Castle. Archives teach us that already at Nara era (710~794), the Ritsuun valley was already known for its cherry trees.
There is also a rumours that long before, a miraculous hot spring was there and could cure all kind of injuries.
